What is our porting and polishing process?

The process is removing cast iron or aluminum from the intake and exhaust ports of your cylinder head. By generally enlarging and smoothing these passages, this removes irregularities of the cylinder head casting which in turn improves airflow. When it comes to factory castings, porting and polishing will yield significant air flow improvements. We begin with a gasket match and work our way into the port. This allows the fuel/air mixture to follow a smooth path. Major attention is then spent in the bowl area or just beneath where the valves are seated in the combustion chamber. Here, a smooth "blending" with the porting tool reduces restriction and improves air flow while increasing velocity. By unshrouding the valve we make your existing cylinder head more efficient. Further performance gains when we add larger valves and resurface to enhance compression and quench. Follow up with a competition valve job and your factory castings will give you impressive performance gains while maintaining that stock appearance.

We apply the same principals to your factory or aftermarket induction system. We can also supply you with a computer generated flow sheet which also will assess your horsepower potential. For competition applications we offer a variety of CNC ported cylinder heads. Contact us with your requirements.
